New Porsche Cayenne Electric

New Porsche Cayenne Electric shows its capabilities, even with camouflage; SUV will also have combustion engines

For over 20 years, the Porsche Cayenne has been the sports car brand’s first SUV, but now it will have its all-electric version with off-road capability.

Porsche is showing this well ahead of the Cayenne Electric’s launch, as part of a film production in England.

The new Porsche Cayenne Electric is equipped with Porsche Active Ride, which consists of an active chassis that keeps the body level at all times.

Porsche Active Ride is also active during dynamic braking, steering and acceleration processes and ensures perfect connection to the road through balanced wheel load distribution.

Michael Schätzle, Vice President Product Line Cayenne, comments: “Porsche Active Ride significantly expands the range between driving dynamics and ride comfort in the new Cayenne.”

Schätzle also guarantees that the final adjustment of the Cayenne Electric continues as quickly as possible before its market launch, “but the power and equipment of the record-breaking car were already at production level,” he concludes.

With a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, the New Porsche Cayenne Electric is built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform with 800-volt architecture.

To demonstrate its capabilities, Porsche displayed the New Cayenne Electric at the Shelsley Walsh hill climb, which has been held since 1905 and is therefore one of the oldest motorsport events in the world.

The New Cayenne was shown off as a near-production prototype, which took part in a filming project while mingling with participants in the British Hill Climb Championship.

The track is only three and a half meters wide in some places, has a steep gradient of up to 16.7% and is 914 meters long in total.

Result? In addition to the record time of 31.28 seconds, the first measuring point, 18.3 meters beyond the starting line, was passed in just 1.94 seconds.

Only single-seater racing cars with slick tires, built specifically for this purpose, have achieved this feat at the event.
